Sant Baba Hari Singh Ji (KaharPur wale)



Sant Hari Singh (Kaharpur Waley) was born in village Jian, district Hoshiarpur (Punjab) in the year 1888 to Father Sardar Avtar Singh and Mother Sardarni Atar Kaur. He was the youngest of the three sons of Sardar Avtar Singh and Sardarni Atar Kaur. He received religious education and knowledge of the Gurmukhi alphabet  from Sant Dalip Singh of Domeli. He grew up to be a youth of a strong, fit in every way and enlisted in the 25th Punjab Battalion as a sepoy in 1904, serving in the NorthWest Frontier Province. In army He meet with ‘Sant Baba Harnarn Singh Ji’, who also belonged to the village of ‘Jian’ and who was also then serving in the army, his native religious inclination asserted itself and he became more and more preoccupied with Gurbdni and meditation. He resigned from the army on 31 March 1909, and joined the dera or monastery of the much revered saint, ‘Sant Baba Karam Singh Ji’ of ‘Hoti Mardan’. He came back to Punjab in 1913 and established Gurdwra in village Kaharpur, near Mahilpur. Sant Hari Singh Kaharpuri, as he came to be known, dedicated himself to preaching the Sikh faith as well as to the spreading of education among the rural masses. He had Khalsa schools established at Kukkar Bariari, Jian and Nasrala. He also established a Khalsa School and a Khalsa College in Mahilpur. Sant Hari Singh Kaharpuri supervised the re-construction of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Anandpur in year 1936-44, where he also renovated. ‘Gurdwara Manji Sahib’ and ‘Guru ka Talab’. He also constructed dharamsalds at Jian and Bariari.
He advised people to left the tobacco, liquor, meat,eggs and so many wrong things from their lives. He blessed them with the teachings of Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji and administer the Amrit of the Khanda Batta.
Sant Baba Hari Singh Ji guided his disciples the path of true devotion to achieve the stage of brahmgyani.
Baba Ji completed His life journey & goes to Sachkhand on 18th of November 1973.

SantBaba Hari Singh ji wasa wellknown in n around Mahilpur villages.His services in the building of Takhat Kesh garh Sahib were most praise worthy that were handed over to him by the committee at that time.I had seen Santji during my school days on several occasions n he used to ride on a white horse during his travels. More information can b obtained from a book about Santji life pulished by his followers.n the same can b.obtained from the gurudwara Sahib at. Ladhewal
